Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group Co., Ltd (Shenning Group in abbreviation) is Shenhua Group's share-holding subsidiary, and a competitive backbone enterprise of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. In Dec. 2002, the CPC Committee and government of Ningxia restructured the coal industry groups of Genyuan, Taixi, Lingzhou, and the original Ningxia Coal Industry Group into a new Ningxia Coal Industry Group Co., Ltd. By increasing capital and equity, Ningxia government cooperated with Shenhua Group to establish Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group Co., Ltd in Jan. 2006, with registration capital of RMB 10.1 billion, of which 51% from Shenhua, and 49% from Ningxia government. By the end of 2009, the group's total assets had been over RMB 60 billion.
Shenning Group has 44 secondary production and operation units, including 15 coal production units, 3 coal washing plants, 7 coal mine construction preparatory units, and other 19 units. At present, the group has more than 50,000 employees. It operates in sectors such as coal mining & washing, coal deep processing, coal chemical industry, electric power, real estate and so on. Currently, the coal production capacity has reached 60 million tons/year, and the production in construction has passed 100 million tons.
Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base is Ningxia's "Project No.One". Shenning Group, as the main force of base construction, assumes major responsibilities of building Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base and realizing the goal of achieving a moderately prosperous society in Ningxia. After over 8 years' large-scale development, a large number of coal mines, coal chemicals, electric power, railway, and coal deep processing projects have been put into operation in succession. Raw coal production and sales grow at double-digit rates every year, safety management improves steadily, fatality rate per million tons decreases year by year. The four main industries of coal, coal chemical industry, coal deep processing & comprehensive utilization, railway are developing side by side.
